Free Pink e-Scooty Scheme for Women: The Sindh government has launched a grand initiative to provide independent and safe transport facilities to women. Electric Scooties (EV Scooties) will be provided to 1,000 women through a lottery starting next month. The decision was announced during a high-level meeting chaired by Provincial Transport Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon.

This project will not only provide women with easy, affordable and eco-friendly transport but will also help in making them independent. Electric Scooties, known as EV Scooties, protect the environment from pollution and provide low-cost rides. In the initial phase, 1,000 women will be given these scooties, for which all preparations have been completed. This initiative will open a new avenue for women who travel daily for employment, education or other needs but face difficulties due to lack of safe transport.

EV Taxi with EV Scooty
In the meeting, Minister Sharjeel Memon also announced that work will be started not only on EV Scooties but also on EV taxi service in June. The aim of this service is to provide eco-friendly and cost-effective travel facilities. The use of electric taxis will not only reduce fuel consumption but will also play an important role in keeping the city’s air clean.

Yellow Line BRT and Jam Sadiq Bridge
A comprehensive update on the Yellow Line BRT project was also provided during the meeting. The project director revealed that the Jam Sadiq Bridge is now slated for completion by June 2025, surpassing its initial target of September 2025. This accelerated delivery of the bridge is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and enhance commuter convenience.
Similarly, the construction of Depot One and Depot Two is also progressing rapidly, and efforts are being made to complete both projects ahead of schedule.

Red Line BRT and Biogas Plant
Fawad Ghaffar Soomro, CEO of Trans Karachi, shared an update on the Red Line BRT project, noting that construction work is actively underway on depots and stations.and a biogas plant as part of the initiative. The establishment of the biogas plant is proof of the Sindh government’s commitment to promoting clean energy sources.
More Buses for Urban and Rural Areas
Sharjeel Memon emphasized in the meeting that at least 500 new buses are urgently needed in different districts of Sindh. He said that eliminating transport problems in both rural and urban areas is the top priority of the government. A better transport system not only makes the lives of citizens easier but also leads to improvement in the economy.
Better Management of Green Line BRT
The meeting also discussed the Green Line BRT project. The minister stated that since the Sindh government took over the project, daily ridership has risen from 50,000 to 61,000. Citizens are now preferring public transport, which is an encouraging sign for the government.
Transparency and Quality: Government’s top priorities
The Minister for Transport directed the concerned agencies to complete all projects on time and with high quality. He said that the people of Karachi are waiting for modern, safe and reliable transport and the Sindh government will leave no stone unturned in this regard.
