Over 70,000 Children Benefit in Initial Phase

In the first phase of the program, more than 70,000 children from government schools located in various backward areas of Sindh province will be provided free meals daily. These meals have been prepared with the help of experts in such a way that they meet the nutritional needs of children and help in their physical and mental development.

Education and Nutrition are Closely Linked

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah said that “the academic performance of children is directly related to their nutrition. If children do not get proper food, they cannot focus on their studies and their learning capacity decreases.” He also expressed concern over the increasing poverty in Pakistan. He further stated that our country Pakistan is among the 10 poorest countries in the world where poverty is the highest, with approximately 42 percent of the population living in poverty. In such circumstances, focusing on the health and education of children should be our top priority.”

Future Expansion

During this event, it was also informed that the Sindh government will continue to extend the program to other districts and even to other deserving children. This initiative will not only improve the health of children but will also increase the attendance rate in schools, which has been a long-standing problem.

Conclusion

This will not only remove nutritional barriers to education but also reduce the economic pressure on poor families. It is hoped that other provinces will also follow this excellent example of the Sindh government so that children across the country can move towards a bright and healthy future.
